Page, Edward R. Edward R. Page, passed away on Friday, Aug. 8, 2003, at Sauk Prairie Memorial Hospital at the age of 83. He was born on July 29, 1920, the son of the late Roy and Louise (Cheney) Page in North Freedom. He was united in marriage to LaVera Mielke on Dec. 26, 1964, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Baraboo. Edward was employed at Fuch's Inc., for over 20 years. He was a long time member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Prairie du Sac. Edward was a loving husband and father who enjoyed fishing. Survivors include his wife, La-Vera; children, Robert (Jackie) Page of Muscoda, William Page of Baraboo; step-children, Rodney (Bev) Mielke of Paraire du Sac, Gloria (Richard) Foye of North Freedom, Bonnie (Ken) Loether of Sauk City; 11 grandchildren, Dana (Jose) Carmona, Daniel Page, Shelby Page, William "Billy" Page, John Page, Pamela (Gregg) Buethin, Angela (Bradley) Lewis, Wayne Foye, Jeremy Loether, Joshua Loether, and Tyler Loether; five great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Lucinda Gruber; and two brothers-in-law, Prentice Bradley and Glen Wilcox. Edward was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Mabel Drescher, Dorothy Bradley, and Mary Lou Wilcox; a brother, Louis Page; a grandchild; and a great grandchild. Funeral services will be held at ST. JOHN'S LUTHERAN CHURCH, Prairie du Sac, at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 11, 2003, with Pastor Don Wendt officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, North Freedom. Parchem, Hazel Lyla. Hazel Lyla (Zimmerman) Parchem, 80, of Baraboo died peacefully in her home surrounded by family on Friday, Aug. 26, 2005. Hazel was born on December 30, 1924 in North Freedom, Wisc. the daughter of Harry and Sarah (Voss) Zimmerman. On June 1, 1944 she was united in marriage to Melvin "Bud" Parchem at St. John's Lutheran Church, Baraboo. He preceded her in death on April 10, 1985. Together in 1963, Hazel and Bud founded Nu-Life Roofing and Siding Company which is currently being operated by the family. Hazel enjoyed crafts, gardening, music and being with her grandchildren. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. Survivors include her daughter, Bonnie (Wayne) Grosklaus of Baraboo; son, David (Jane) Parchem of Baraboo; seven grandchildren, Dawn (Leo) Barton of Ironton, Dale (Ann) Goff, Matthew "Chip" Grosklaus and Paul Grosklaus, all of Baraboo, Jennifer, Jessica and Jayder Parchem, all of Baraboo; five great grandchildren, Danica, Taren, Karlene, Dustin and Daphne Barton, all of Ironton; a sister, Darlene Replogle of Rock Springs and several in-laws and other relatives and friends. In addition to her husband Bud, she was preceded in death by a brother, Lawrence Zimmerman, a brother in-law, W.M. "Bill" Replogle and her parents. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 31, 2005 at St. John's Lutheran Church at 11 a.m. with pastor Myron Schwanke officiating. Visitation will be at the church on Wednesday from 9 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will take place in Walnut Hill Cemetery. Parks, Marion A. Marion A. Parks, age 86, died on September 22, 2001 at St. Care Meadows, Baraboo. Mrs. Park, the daughter of Wallace and Amanda (Schreiber) Towers, was born April 19, 1915 in Caledonia Township, Columbia County, Wisconsin. She is survived by a daughter, Joanne (Neil) Jensen, Merrimac; a son, Robert (Deborah) Parks, Island Heights, New Jersey; 8 grandchildren, Steve (Sharon) Jensen, Debra Jensen, Chris (Susan) Jensen, David Parks, Betsy (Scott) Dedrickson, Douglas Parks, Matthew (Dawn) Parks, and Andrew Parks; 9 great-grandchildren, Ryan and Rachel Jensen, Kristof and Karli Dedrickson, Sara and Emily Parks, Linsey and Dylan Parks, and Royal Parks; a sister, Dorothy (Herb) Feddick, Duluth, Minnesota; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon, in 1993; her parents; a son and daughter-in-law, James and Sally Parks; a grandson, Braden Parks; and sisters, Margaret (Willard) Kindschi and Esther (Edward) Sacharaski. There will be no visitation. Burial will take place at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Merrimac. Since five members of her immediate family were or are motivated in firefighting, memorials may be made in Marion's name to your local fire department. Pawlisch, Carl O. Carl O. Pawlisch, age 73, of LaValle, died Friday, August 16, 2002, at his home. He was born on March 22, 1929 in Reedsburg, Wisconsin, to Otto V. and Anna (Musial) Pawlisch. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force in the Korean War. Carl was a lifetime member of the American Legion. He is survived by his son, Hans Pawlisch of Baltimore, Maryland, his brothers Dr. James T. (June) Pawlisch of Reedsburg and Dr. Paul (Helen) Pawlisch of Chetek, Wisconsin, his nephews, Curt, David, John and Thomas Pawlisch, along with other relatives and friends. Funeral services for Carl O. Pawlisch will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Friday, Aug. 23, 2002, at the Farber Funeral Home in Reedsburg. Friends may call on Friday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery, North Freedom, with military graveside rites conducted by the LaValle American Legion Post #242. Pawlisch Wood, Lois. Lois Pawlisch Wood, 87, died peacefully July 18, 2003 at Porter Hospice in Denver, Colorado. Lois was born July 16, 1916 in North Freedom, Wisconsin to Albert and Elisabeth Klemm Pawlisch. On June 22, 1940 she married Donald L. Wood. They resided fifty-five years in Fort Madison, Iowa before moving to Denver in 2000. Lois is survived by her beloved husband, Donald; two children: Lee and Diane; four grandchildren; four great grandchildren; a brother Albert (Ida Mae) Pawlisch; and numerous relatives and friends. A grandson, son-in-law, daughter-in-law; brother Durlin; sister Ruth, and parents preceded her in death. Visitation for Lois will be on Thursday, July 24, 2003 from 5 until 7 p.m. at the Redlin Funeral Home in Baraboo. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 25, 2003 at the funeral home with Pastor Steve Ohrtman officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in North Freedom.

Pearson, Harriette M. Harriette M. Pearson, 93 of Reedsburg, formerly of LaValle, died on Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2005, in the Edward Snyder Nursing Home. She was born on December 26, 1911, in LaValle, the daughter of U.G. "Dick" and Lena (nee Hansen) Anderson. Harriette was a graduate of the Sauk County Normal School. She then taught for one year at the Jackson School in rural LaValle. She later worked as a surgical technician at the Reedsburg Municipal Hospital until her retirement. She enjoyed quilting in her spare time. Survivors include two children, Sarah (Leo) Lucht of LaValle and John "Jack" (Joanne) Pearson of Ketchikan, Alaska; four grandchildren, James (Lori) Lucht and Thomas Lucht, both of LaValle, Kathryn "Katie" Pearson M.D. of Kirkland, Wash. and Lee Pearson of Ketchican, Alaska; two great grandchildren, Heather and Lucas Lucht of LaValle; her sister, Dee Fox of Reedsburg; nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty years, C. Lee Pearson. Memorial services will be conducted at the United Methodist Church in LaValle at a later date. Pilkey, Don C. Don C. Pelkey, age 83, passed away peacefully on January 16, 2002, at home in Baraboo. He was born on Dec. 23, 1918, in Broken Bow, Nebraska to Ione and Elwood Pelkey. He was a graduate of the University of Nebraska in 1941, and immediately entered the U.S. Army until the end of World War II. He worked for American Breeders until 1972 and then for American Express, in Madison, until his retirement in 1997. He loved football, playing cards, and his many pets. His unique sense of humor and kindness endeared him to everyone who knew him. Survivors include Jean Greenwood of Baraboo, his children; Janet, Jon, Judy and George of California and Oregon, their children; Michael, Zach, Zoe, Andrew, Rachael, Emma, Kimberley and Alex. Kelly McNelly and Kathryn Schroeder and step grandchildren; Joshua, Nicole, Andy and Amanda McNelly of Poynette. A private memorial will be held for the family.

Pesch, Josephine. Josephine Pesch, age 85, of Baraboo, passed away on Friday, October 5, 2001, at the Wisconsin Dells Health & Rehab Center. Josephine, the daughter of Joseph and Angeline Lato, was born on October 23, 1915, in the Chicago area. She was united in marriage to Robert Pesch on June 17, 1939 in Chicago. Josephine was a devoted wife and mother. She enjoyed cats and gardening, and was an excellent Italian cook. She is survived by: one son, James Pesch of Baraboo; three cousins, Vincent DiLiberto and Beulah Tornatore, both of St. Louis, Mo., and Rosalee Gorak of Glendale Heights, IL; one brother-in-law, Howard Pesch of Madison; two sisters-in-law, Elaine Link of Franklin, NC and Ruth Pesch of Madison; 13 nieces and nephews. Josephine was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Robert, in 1999. Funeral services will at held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 9, 2001, at the Redlin Funeral Home in Baraboo with Father Gerald Vosen officiating. Interment will be in the Fairfield Cemetery. Petersen, Thelma. Thelma Petersen, age 80 of Baraboo, formerly of Lake Delton, died on Saturday, Dec. 15, 2001 at St. Clare Hospital of Baraboo. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2001 at 11 a.m. at the United Presbyterian Church in Wisconsin Dells with Reverend Steven Keller officiating. Burial will follow at the Spring Grove Cemetery in Wisconsin Dells. Thelma was born on Feb. 6, 1921 in Indiana, the daughter of Bruce and Marie (Acree) Acree. She was married to Bernard Petersen and he preceded her in death in January of 1972. Thelma was a member of the Homemaker's Club and was active in church groups. Thelma is survived by: her sons, David (Linda) Petersen of Roseville, Minn. and Wayne (Pam) Petersen of Baraboo and grandchildren Kristie, Vicki, Tayler and Kory. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. Visitation will be held at the Picha Funeral Home of Lake Delton on Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2001 from 4 to 8 p.m. and on Wednesday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m.

Peterson, Charles R. Charles R. "Chuck" Peterson, age 58, died Sunday evening, Sept. 7, 2003, following a brief battle with cancer. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Thursday at ST. PETER'S LUTHERAN CHURCH in Loganville, with the Rev. Ronald Rasmussen officiating. Interment will be in St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery in Reedsburg. The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Wednesday at the HOOF FUNERAL HOME in Reedsburg. In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated.

Pfaff, Wm. Wm. Pfaff, Ableman, passed away at his home on Sunday evening, September 15, 1935 at 7:30 o'clock. He had been ill three days and had lived his entire life in the community. He reached the age of 59 years, 7 months and 28 days. Funeral services for Mr. Pfaff were held Wednesday afternoon from the Ableman Lutheran church, with the Rev. Philip Lehman officiating. Oehlers and Howland had the funeral arrangements. Surviving Mr. Pfaff are his widow, four daughters, Mrs. Elsie Behnke, Ableman, Mrs. Sylvia Breau, Des Moines, Ia., Mrs. Marietta Gardner, Milwaukee, and Arlene at home; one son, Erwin, at home, a brother, Edward, Ableman, and two sisters, Mrs. John Hauder, Chicago, and Mrs. Aug. Lange, Ableman.

Piazza, Russell. Russell Piazza, age 79, passed away at Don & Marilyn Anderson HospiceCare Center surrounded by his family on Thursday, October 23, 2003 after a lengthy illness. He was born on April 4, 1924 to Frances (Muso) and Sam Piazza in Madison, Wisconsin, and lived in Madison most of his life. He married Rita (Intravaia) on April 14, 1950 in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. He was a WWII veteran, serving in Germany. After graduating from Business College, he was a restaurateur prior to his employment at the VA Hospital as a Medical Administrator for 25 years. Upon his retirement, he became a LTE for the WI Department of Revenue for 15 years. Russ was a longtime member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post 7591. He is survived by Rita, his wife of 53 years; 5 children: Gregory, Ferndale, MI; Ann (Bill) Haymaker, Margaret (Rod) Birrenkott, Russell (Chris), all of Madison; and Nancy (Bruce) Schultz, Baraboo; his brother-in-law: Thomas Intravaia, San Diego; his sisters-in- law: Anne Cerniglia and Sonia Intravaia of Madison, Sally Wolozyn of McFarland, and Lillian Piazza of Cerrito, CA. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 1 great-granddaughter and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Alma Stassi Thiessen, his brothers, Joseph, George, and Vito Piazza. Pickar, Lydia E. Lydia E. Pickar, age 88, of Loganville, died on Monday, Dec. 2, 2002, at the Premier Rehabilitation Center, Beloit. She was born on May 22, 1914, in Loganville, the daughter of William and Emma (Voss) Lutterman. On Sept. 15, 1935, Lydia was united in marriage to Edmund "Butch" Pickar at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Loganville. He preceded her in death on Aug. 3, 1996. Lydia was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Loganville, where she was active in the Ladies Aid. She was also a member of the Loganville Homemakers. She was also preceded in death by her parents; and sisters, Esther Fuller and Edna Thies. She is survived by her sister, Evelyn Froehlich of Reedsburg; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, many godchildren, other relatives and friends. Funeral services for Lydia E. Pickel, Ashlyn Ann. Ashlyn Ann Pickel, age 2 months, died Monday, August 11, 2003 at St. Mary's Hospital in Madison. She was born on June 5, 2003 in Madison to Heath and Christine (Henry) Pickel. She was preceeded in death by her great-grandpa, Melvin Pickel; great-grandma, Etta Ward and great-grandpa, Arthur link. Ashlyn is survived by: Her parents: Christine and Heath Pickel of Loganville, a brother: Tucker Pickel of Loganville, Grandparents: Brian and Wendy Link of Mauston, Patti and Rick Ward of Loganville, Tammy and Denny Ott of Hillpoint, Marlin Pickel of Janesville. Pieper, Bessie E. Bessie E. Pieper, 90, Reedsburg, died on Friday, Oct. 11, 2002, in the Reedsburg Area Medical Center. She was born on March 9, 1912, in Madison, the daughter of Otto and Elda (nee Hoeverman) Kohlmeyer Sr. She married Clarence Pieper on Jan. 28, 1934. They farmed in the Loganville area until October 1966 when they moved to Reedsburg. Bessie worked in the laundry of the Reedsburg Municipal Hospital for many years. She later answered telephones for the Hammer-Hoof Funeral Home for over 20 years. She was a faithful member of St. John Ev. Lutheran Church. Survivors include her sister, Viola Tank, Lodi; two sisters-in-law: Marion Kohlmeyer, Rice Lake, and Marjorie Kohlmeyer, Cary, Ill.; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence, on Dec. 2, 1980; her parents and three brothers, Frederick, Herbert and Otto Kohlmeyer. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Friday at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Reedsburg with Pastor Amy Swanson officiating. Pieper, John H. John H. Pieper, age 93, of Reedsburg, died Tuesday morning, October 23, 2001 in the Edward Snyder Nursing Home. He was born on September 13, 1908 in the Town of Beaver, Clark County, the son of Frank and Lydia (Essman) Pieper. On October 3, 1934 he was united in marriage to the former Irma Neumann. She preceded him in death on December 24, 1981. He later married Viola Dreifke on March 19, 1983. She died on April 15, 2000. John farmed in the Town of Reedsburg for 38 years until his retirement. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church and a former member of the church council. He was also a former member of the Reedsburg Town Board. He enjoyed traveling. Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Lynette Pieper of Cazenovia; one granddaughter, Ashley Pieper; one brother, the Rev. Frank (Joyce) Pieper of Emden, Illinois; three sisters, Bertha Cook of Sheboygan Falls, Evelyn Bash of Milwaukee and Edna Cherney of Milwaukee; a special sister-in-law, Bessie Pieper of Reedsburg; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. In addition to his wives, he was preceded in death by a son, Douglas Dreifke; one sister, Verna Knuth; and four brothers, Walter Pieper, Clarence Pieper, Rueben Pieper and Robert Fabian. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Friday, October 26, 2001 at ST. JOHN EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN CHURCH in Reedsburg. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Pilling, Janetta S. Janetta S. Pilling, age 95, died peacefully on October 21, 2001, at the Beach Health Care Center of the Sheboygan Retirement Home. Born Janetta Alice Smith on August 11, 1906 in Baraboo, Wisconsin, she was the oldest child of Horace and Mary Martiny Smith. After graduating from Baraboo High School, she received a teaching certificate from Whitewater State Teachers College (UW-Whitewater). She came to Sheboygan in 1928 and taught at Sheridan School. On September 19, 1929, she was united in marriage to Milton Pilling of Sheboygan in Baraboo. The couple resided in the four hundred block of Lincoln Ave. for thirty five years. Mr. Pilling, president of the Sheboygan Trust Company, preceded her in death on December 25, 1961. Following her husband's death, Janetta became president and a director of Sheboygan Trust Company. For many years she was a director and secretary-treasurer of Riverdale Country Club, Inc. Following retirement, she traveled throughout the world. In the community, Janetta was a long time active member of St. Luke United Methodist Church, Sheboygan YMCA, John Michael Kohler Arts Center, Sheboygan County Historical Society, Mead Public Library, Friends of Wisconsin Libraries, Order of Eastern Star, Daughters of the American Revolution, and American Legion Auxiliary. Survivors include a brother, Clarence E. (Dorothea) Smith, Baraboo, and four children: Arlynn (John) Warmack, Morton Grove, Illinois; M. Russell (Mary Margaret) Pilling, Sheboygan; Glenn (Patricia) Pilling, Sheboygan; and Janice Brittain, Salt Lake City, Utah. Also surviving are eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren: Linda Warmack (Michael) Wesson, and sons John and William, Franklin, Tennessee; Janet Warmack (Frederick) Wayne, son Brendan and daughter Genevieve, Madison; Pamela Warmack (John) Mutka, and daughter Katherine, Lake In The Hills, Illinois; Brett (Jill) Pilling, Plymouth; Laura Pilling (Arwin) Herzog, Sheboygan; Eric Pilling, Milwaukee; Jennifer Pilling (Robert) Topel, Bellevue, Washington; and Mark Pilling, Chicago. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Duane M. Smith. A memorial service will be held on Monday, October 29, 2001, at 12 noon, at the Ballhorn Funeral Chapels. Rev. Les Munnik, Associate Pastor of St. Luke United Methodist Church, will officiate. Friends may call at Ballhorn's on Monday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service. Platt, Marianna Elizabeth. Mariana Elizabeth Platt, commonly known as Mary Platt, was born on January 7, 1843 at Pohaten Point, Ohio, as the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph Zimmerly. As an infant she received the sacrament of Holy Baptism, and on, during the course of her youth, was instructed in the work of God and confirmed in the Luthern faith. When she was eight years of age, her parents with their family, left Ohio and came to Wisconsin by Steam boat, seeking a new home. They followed the Ohio River to St. Louis and then came up the Mississippi River to the Wisconsin River. They were supposed to stop at Galena, Illinois for a while but becaus eof an epidemic of cholera on ther boat, they were not allowed to land. At Dubuque, Iowa they transferred to a smaller boat. A settler tried to kidnap an older sister of Mary's as they were going from one boat to another. The sister was rescued by her father and uncles. This trip was saddened by the loss of two of two of their children, who were stricken with cholera and died on the way shortly after they landed at Sauk City, Wisconsin. The boat captain was also stricken with cholera before the vessel reached Portage Wisconsin, about 20 miles up river. Here in Wisconsin, the family settled on a plot of land in Sauk County on the so-called Happy Hill, south of North Freedom, and began the task of hewing a farm out of the wilderness. Here the deceased spent her youth and did her full share in helping her parents create a homestead. When she was twenty-one years of age, on April 7, 1864 she was married to Mr. Ludwig Platt of Baraboo, a harness maker by trade. The couple settled in the city after their marriage, and in February 1864 purchased a home on Seventh Avenue, which remained the home of the seven children, two of which have preceded their mother in death, a daughter, Olga dying in infancy at the age of eight months and an adult son, Charles, who died in September 1917. Her husband died on the 20th of April, 1904. Besides her own children, she, the deceased, brought up two boys in the home, Thomas and Donald Hood, and a girl, a niece of her husband, Mary Platt. During the course of her whole life, she took an active interest in the affairs of her community, and especially of her church. Indeed she was instrumental in the founding of our St. John's Congregation; for it was through her efforts and upon her invitation that an itinerant Lutheran Pastor was induced to come to this place and to hold services here, the first of which was held in her home. Later on the congregation organized, and services were held for a time in the so-called Institute Building. She was a faithful attendant of the services of the congregation until she was well into the nineties in age when the feeble of high old age forbade her attendance. As far as I have been able to determine, the last of the founders of our congregation has been called to the heavenly rest. In spite of the fact that she reached a high old age, the deceased during the course of her whole life was never a very robust person, and during her younger years and the years of middle-age was in rather delicate health. She had suffered a sun-stroke and for a time was ailing with inflammatory rheumatism. During her declining years, which she spend under the tencder care of her daughter, Julia, who made her home with her mother, she was rather well though feeble. Her mind remained clear and active; until the very last. She was taken ill on Sunday and on Wednesday morning her condition had much improved, and it was thought that she might again be spared. She died rather suddenly, but peacefully and quietly, on Wednesday noon, August 31, 1938 in the faith of that Savior whom she had confessed all her life. A few hours before her death she had received the sacrament of Holy Communion. Her age came to ninethy-five years, seven months, twenty-four days. She is survived by one son, Henry Platt of Baraboo, and four daughters, Miss Rose Platt, Mrs. Anna Grosinske, Mrs.Gertrude Spangenberg and Miss Julia and nineteen great grandchildrenand many more distant relatives." Mary Platt passed away September 31, 1938 in Baraboo.

Popp, Reinhart. Funeral services for Reinhart Popp, 50, who died suddenly at home home in Milwaukee, Tuesday, Jan. 2, 1945 were held in Milwaukee, and on Saturday at Ableman in the Lutheran church with burial in the Ableman cemetery. Mr. Popp, who had lived most of his life in the Ableman vicinity and who had conducted a store in the village for many years, had lived in Milwaukee for the past two years. The son of the late Rev. F. P. Popp, pastor of the Ableman church for more than 40 years, he is survived by his wife, the former Ella Dettman; two sons, the Rev. Reinhart Popp, Crivitz, and Reginald, at home; three brothers, Frederick, in Pennsylvania; Arthur, of Marinette, and Dr. Carl Popp, Baraboo, and his mother, Mrs. Marie Popp, also of Baraboo.

Powell, Fern Ellen (Clark). Fern Ellen Powell, age 85 of 1415 W. Court street, died suddenly on Thursday afternoon, October 23, 1997 at her home. She was born on June 5, 1912 in LaValle, WI, the daughter of Dr. John and Pearl (Cameron) Clark. She attended elementary and high school in LaValle and Reedsburg, WI. Fern married Willis Powell on November 12, 1930 and they celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary in 1989. He preceded in death on January 19, 1990. Fern loved gardening, yard work, cats, dogs and any child or animal in need. She also enjoyed tracing her Irish ancestors. She was a member of the Rock County Genealogical Society. She is survived by her children, Willis D. "Bill" (Jean Farris) Powell, John (Margarethe) Powell, Donna (Jonathan) Bader all of Janesville; 2 granddaughters, Alice (Barry) Liss of Ashbury, NJ and Mary Bader of Waukesha, WI; a foster daughter, Alinda Schemerhorn of Bend, Oregon; 4 foster grandchildren, Brian (Jenny) Schemerhorn, Shawn (Helen) Schemerhorn, Todd Schemerhorn and their mother, Phyllis Schemerhorn of Janesville, WI, Aurora Sprott of Bend, Oregon; 5 foster great-grandchildren; a sister, Helen Sosinsky of Mauston, WI, a brother, Dr. Warren (Jeanette) Clark of Hillsboro,I; three special friends, Dorothy Pauls, Audrey Helgeson, and Pam Derringer, all of Janesville; three special animal friends, Sheba, Clinton and Reggie and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a foster son, Robert Schemerhorn. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 pm on Monday, October 27, 1997 at Schneider Funeral home with Rev. Andrew Siedama officiating. Burial will be at Oak Hill cemetery. Friends may call on Monday 12:30 pm until time of service at the funeral home. "Mom loved her home on West Court St., and often remarked "Its not new or fancy, but, it is home". It was the center of her life and the center of ours as well. When she returned home from her hospital stay, she seated herself in her favorite chair and remarked "It's so good to be home and I hope I never have to leave again until they have to carry me out feet first". Powell, Lorraine E. Lorraine E. Powell, 76 of Lime Ridge, died Saturday evening, Aug. 13, 2005, in the Sauk County Health Care Center. She was born on August 28, 1928, in LaValle, the daughter of Leo and Wilma (nee St. Clair) Wegner. On September 10, 1946, she was married to Victor C. Powell. Together they farmed for many years in Richland and then Sauk County. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Lime Ridge where she was active with the youth for several years. She was involved in 4-H, homemakers, drove school bus, was a member of the Town & Country Senior Citizens and was involved with the Loyd Friendship Circle for over fifty years. Lorraine enjoyed deer hunting and camping with her grandchildren. Survivors include three sons, Jim (Jane) Powell of Cazenovia, Randy (Sue) Powell of Viola and Kennard (Cindy) Powell of Norwalk; seven grandchildren; two step-grandsons; nine great grandchildren; four step-great grandchildren; her mother, Wilma Wegner of Reedsburg; two sisters, Ruth (Herbert) Dargel of Lime Ridge and Helen Nobs of Janesville; one brother, Johnnie (Anna) Wegner of LaValle; a sister-in-law, Vivian Kiesel of Collinsville, Texas; nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Victor, on January 1, 2002; her father; an infant son and an infant daughter. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 18, 2005, at the United Methodist Church in Lime Ridge with Pastor Joshua Pegram officiating. Interment will be in the Lime Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4 until 8 p.m. on Wednesday at the Hoof Funeral Home in Reedsburg. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Lime Ridge Cemetery Association, United Methodist Church in Lime Ridge or the American Cancer Society would be appreciated. Powell, Roland N. Roland N. Powell, age 71, of Baraboo, returned to his eternal home in heaven on Saturday, Nov. 10, 2001. He was born on April 28, 1930 in Baraboo, the son of Neil and Olive (Cole) Powell. He was a loving and devoted husband to Marlene (Smith) Powell. Their blessed marriage began on May 8, 1951 in Baraboo. Recently they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. "Rolly," "Rosebud" or "Bud" found his greatest joy in his faith, his wife, family and friends. He was a machinist for Gisholt in Madison and later worked as a carpenter, retiring in 1983. He was an avid outdoorsman who saw being out in nature as being one with God. When his health permitted, he loved sports, teaching his children and many of their friends, to hunt, snow ski and water ski. Later in life, he traded playing sports for watching his grandchildren play. He was a tinkerer and inventor, forever retreating to his garage or basement to fix or create something. He served in the U.S. Air Force for eight years, including the Korean War. Husband, Father, Brother, Brother-in-law, Son-in-law, Son, friend and "Papa," he will be missed. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Lyle, and his mother and father-in-law, Glenn and Ila Smith. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. He belonged to the V.F.W. Post #2336, Circus City Sportsman's Club and Baraboo Elks Lodge #688. We was retired from the Civil Air Patrol. Roland is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Marlene of Baraboo; three daughters, Susan Clary of Baraboo, Rebecca (David) Marx of Hartland, WI, and Diane (Matt) Krueger of Baraboo; eight grandchildren, Matt (Holly) Clary of Baraboo, Ben and Mackenzie Clary, both of Baraboo, Michaela, Gabrielle and Zachary Marx, all of Hartland, Renee (Jason) Stelzer of Baraboo, and Jacob Krueger of Baraboo; his sister-in-law, Marge Powell of Crystal Lake, IL; special aunts, Betty Wolfrath and Crystal Foyler of Baraboo; other aunts, uncles, relatives and friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2001, at 11 a.m. with Father Gerald P. Vosen officiating. Interment will take place in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. There will be a visitation at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Wednesday. Prather, Noreane E. Noreane E. Prather, 89 of Reedsburg, died Tuesday, August 30, 2005, in her home. She was born on June 16, 1916, in the Town of Winfield, Sauk County, the daughter of Walter and Elsie (nee Halvensleben) Kutz. She was a graduate of Reedsburg High School and she then attended beauty culture school in Chicago, Ill. On October 5, 1940, she was married to Vaughn T. Prather. To this union six children were born. Noreane was a lifelong member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church. She enjoyed gardening, dancing, sewing, cooking, the out of doors and spending time with her family. Survivors include six children, Patricia (Steven) Koch of Middleton, Vaughn Gary Prather of Golden, British Columbia, Canada, Cheryl (Butch) Phetteplace of West Bend, Ross (Laura) Prather of Seattle, Wash., Virginia (Stephen) Knuth of Richland Center and Brenda (John) Baldwin of Reedsburg; 12 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; one sister, Gloria Taylor of Mims, Fla.; nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Vaughn, on November 17, 2001; and two sisters, Norma Cottington and Lucille Fish Borland. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 3, 2005, at St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Reedsburg with Rev. Paul Crolius officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday at the Hoof Funeral Home in Reedsburg. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Our House in Reedsburg or to St. Peter's Lutheran Church would be appreciated. Price, Charlotte Letitia. Services were held for Mrs. Charlotte Letitia Price, age 86, Tuesday, December 31, at 1:30 p.m. at Redlin-Scheible Funeral Home with Rev. Donald Mace officiating. Mrs. Price passed away early Monday morning at Jefferson Meadows Care Center after a long illness. Mrs. Price, the former Charlotte Sweet, was born in Baraboo September 16, 1888 and had lived in the Baraboo area her entire life. She is survived by one son, Richard Price of Washingtron, D.C.; and two grandchildren and other relatives and friends. Burial was in Pine Eden Cemetery in Wonewoc, Wisconsin.

Pugh, Calvin Stanley. Calvin Stanley Pugh, age 78 of LaValle, died Wednesday, May 22, 2002 at the Sauk County Health Care Center. He was born on January 1, 1924 in Reedsburg, Wisconsin. He was the first child of Eber and Elsie (Stanley) Pugh. The family moved to Mazomanie, Wisconsin when Calvin was six, then to LaValle when he was twelve. After completing his education, he worked for a short time before entering the Navy in April of 1943. He trained at Great Lakes, and then was sent to Bremerton, Washington where he was assigned to the battleship USS Pennsylvania. He served aboard this ship for 31 months and saw action in all of the major battles in the South Pacific. He was discharged in February 1946 and worked at several places until he attended Coyne Electric School in Chicago, Illinois. On May 31, 1947 he married Ruth Lucht. In November of that year, he started work for Wisconsin Power and Light as a lineman, working 37 1/2 years out of the Baraboo district, much of that time as a chief line technician. While living in Baraboo, he was an active member of St. John's Lutheran Church, was a member of the Baraboo Fire Department and Ambulance for 30 years, and taught first aid for the American Red Cross. Calvin was also a member of the LaValle American Legion Post 242 and Reedsburg VFW Post 1916. Upon retirement, Calvin and Ruth moved to LaValle where they spent their summers on the farm and wintered at Rockport, Texas for 15 years until health did no longer permit driving. At LaValle, they attended St. Paul's Lutheran Church. He remained a member of the Legion and VFW. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Boyd. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Ruth Pugh of LaValle; his daughters, Joyanne (Roger) McEndree of LaValle and Marilyn (Robert) Storandt of LaValle; his son, James (Shelly) Pugh of Wisconsin Dells; grandchildren, April (Craig) Shanks, Joel (Kelly) Geisser, James Jr. and Karen Pugh, Melissa (David) Delmore, Angela (John) Philip, Anne Geisser, Melanie (Greg) Neumaier, John Rogers, Amanda Rogers, David and Marty Pugh; 10 great-grandchildren; his brother, Charles (Ruth Ellen) Pugh of Mt. Wolf, Pennsylvania; his sisters, Marian (Tracy) Howe of Hancock, Iowa, Beth Pugh of Saudi Arabia and Charlotte (Carl) McAffee of LaValle; sisters-in-law, Jeanelle Pugh of Swansea, South Carolina, Kathleen Lucht of Springfield, Illinois and Arlene Wachs of Milwaukee; many nieces and nephews, along with other relatives and friends. Funeral services for Calvin S. Pugh will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, May 25, 2002 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, rural LaValle, with Pastor Ed Iverson officiating. Burial will follow in St. Paul's Cemetery, rural LaValle with military graveside rites conducted by the LaValle American Legion Post 242 and Reedsburg VFW 1916. Friends may call on Friday from 4:00-8:00 P.M. at the Farber Funeral Home in Reedsburg and on Saturday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service at the church. Memorials of remembrance may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church Improvement Fund. The Farber Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
