Kreutzmann, Elizabeth. Mrs. Henry Kreutzmann for many years a citizen of this city and for a few years past, a resident of LaValle, was found dead at her home Friday morning, January lst. She had been in her usual health the day before and had evidently arisen as usual on Friday morning when death came suddenly. The funeral was held at LaValle on Sunday and burial was beside her husband in the Reedsburg cemetery of St. John's Church. Elizabeth Bartel was born at Barum, Hanover, Germany, November 16, 1846. She came to Reedsburg in 1864. Four years later she married Henry Kreutzmann who died two years ago. Seven children were born to them, two, Huldah Borchers of LaValle and Herbert H. of Hillsboro remain to mourn their loss. One brother, Herman Bartels of Danville, Illinois and three sisters; Mrs. Henry Hagenah of Hillsboro, Mrs. Henry Schultz of Reedsburg and Mrs. William Voss of St. Paul are also living. Mrs. Kreutzmann was a pleasant, kindly woman who has many friends wherever she has lived. In her home she was a good mother whose passing is a deep sorrow to those who remain. In Reedsburg the Kreutzmanns are remembered by many who were deeply grieved to hear of the sudden death. While still in Germany she was confirmed and joined the Germany Church, afterwards she joined St. John's Church at Reedsburg and at the time of death was a member of St. John's at LaValle. Mrs. Kreutzmann was a sincere Christian and her church and it's services were very dear to her. Living alone as she did, she found much comfort and consolation in her Bible and each day devoted a portion of her time to it's study. Mrs. Kreutzmann died two years ago, since when she has lived by herself, preferring to be in a home of her own. She was an ideal mother, her first thought always being for her home and her children and they will indeed miss her in numberless ways. She was a member of the German Ladies Aid Society and they too will miss her pleasant face and happy ways. Thus another mother has been taken, and while hearts are sad and clouds hang heavy "somewhere the clouds are rifted, and somewhere the angels wait". Taken from the Reedsburg Times of January 8, 1915
