A History of North Freedom, Wisconsin

In 1849 Samuel and Dency Terry Hackett moved to the Town of Freedom in Wisconsin and became the first permanent settlers in the town. They settled on the east end of what would one day grow to be known as the village of North Freedom.

For nearly 170 years this quaint little community, surrounded by the beauty of the Baraboo River valley and the Baraboo Range, has served as home to many, each contributing to the rich history of this corner of the world.

Life here has remained simple and quiet, and for that the current residents are thankful that “They Led Us to Today.”

A collection of writings, oral histories, newspaper clippings, artwork, and photos compiled by the North Freedom History Book Committee through the help of many. November 2018, Revised Edition. 240 Pages, many vintage photos.
