For the year 2013, the Sauk County Historical Society has chosen the theme, "Sauk County, Above and Beyond". This theme represents the contributions of notable avaiators from Sauk County. Garvin Kowalke, served in WWII as a B52 pilot, flew sampling missions over Hiroshima after the Atomic Bomb drop, ditched in the ocean in a B52, served in Korea and Viet Nam.
